Toddlers affect on Older people

Today while walking and shopping downtown, I stopped to observe a couple of ladies in their early seventies talking to a boy and his sister. In my town we have a nursing home for the elderly downtown and the residents like to sit out front and visit with the shoppers downtown. In this case a mother with her two children had stopped to window shop and the young boy and girl had started talking to the two elderly ladies. The boy looked around 6 or 7 and the girl looked around 3 or 4. As I observed the conversation I couldn't help but notice how the two elderly women were smiling the whole time. I could tell by looking at them that they were feeling good inside and I doubt very muchm that they were feeling very old during this time. The children too were smiling and enjoying their visit with the ladies. When the mother stopped looking in the window and try to grab the kids hands, the boy dodged her mother and gave one of the elderly ladies a hug. Seeing this the little girl had to give the other lady a hug as well. When the two kids were hugging the elderly ladies I swear the whole street lit up with the smiles from the four people doing the hugging. Upon viewing this the mother stopped and chatted with the women as well. I am hoping they were setting up future times they could get together for a short 5 minute chat or possibly longer. Since seeing this I have taken my own daughter downtown and I make sure we both take time to chat with the elderly people. I hope anybody who reads this will try and do the same. Our world is getting more and more elderly and they all need friends too!
